Oh me, oh my! How the days are flying by!

I cannot believe that every day is speeding by like a freight train. Christmas is 30 days away today! I have so many projects swirling around in my head right now, many involve sewing...

I'd also like to get some projects to get the kids into the Christmas spirit!
This great project idea involves wrapping up 25 books for the family. (tip...reuse them each year or you could really rack up the $$$). Each night pull one package to unwrap and read. I plan to "rig" it so the more involved "chapter books" that would suit my older kiddo will fall on the weekends where there is more time for involved reading. I also like the idea of starting for the 12 days of Christmas (I know...technically they actually start ON Christmas...but as far as the kids are concerned maybe we could do twelve before this once) since I haven't acquired all the books yet. It's either that or wrap a couple "faux books" as placeholders right now until I get to the Scholastic Books Warehouse sale.

elle keeps moving

I know lots of folks have made Advent calendars to "Countdown to Christmas" too. Check out this great one made by Kelly last year...

  3. I can't believe the time is going so fast either. I am so far behind this year and have so many things left that I want to do. One thing I want to do is make some kind of bag or box to put candy in for the stockings of the people in my family. When we all get together for Christmas, we each have a stocking and I always put some goodies in them. This year there will be about 30 of us here. Guess I better get started on them, eh? I also have to finish my Christmas cards.
One Christmas tradition that we have done every year since Kelsie was born (this year will be #22) is that I get the kids Christmas pajamas. On Christmas Eve they get into their pajamas and come down and suprise Dave. Then we sit on the sofa and I read Twas The Night Before Christmas. Both my kids are moving out in the next month or so, so this will be the last year for that tradition. :^(

    1. We're a PJ house here too! I did get the copy of T'was the Night Before Christmas from Kohl's Cares and the cute stuffed reindeer this year. They are just too cute, the $ goes to a charitable cause, and it can fit in with our plans for reading and building a library that they can pass on to younger cousins once they "outgrow" the books.

  4. I like your book idea, but 2 of my older ones are past college but still home! Need to think of something that would work for them.
We have to put the tree up soon and then get the decorations out. First I insist on some house cleaning.
We may revive a custom this year- reading all Christmas cards at the dinner table the day each arrives, then praying for the ones who sent them.

    1. I think another great idea is to plan some activities you'd like to do as a family. Say "trim the tree", "bake cookies", "visit a nursing home", "leave an anonymous gift at a neighbors", etc and put them in decorated envelopes.
I love your tradition of sharing the cards!

  5. Still seems like summer or spring, time does fly. Love the book idea! No tree this year, new kitten that is into everything. Kelly did a wonderful job with you awesome files. Thanks for sharing! Ginger

  6. Great project Kelly--and I love the book idea--but alas--my kids are all grown up! We still try to do the annual "cookie baking" each year--and decorating for the holidays. One of my "adult" kids still lives at home--have to say it's truly a blessing to have him around, he's a huge help.
