Happy Father's Day to all the papas out there!

Hope all of you are having a wonderful Father's Day! I have a freebie to share with you today...it's the first Digi Stamp I've actually gone and "put out there", so PLEASE leave me comments and let me know what you think. The pic you see above is how I chose to embellish my card, but the packaged file contains the vintage PA-PA BINGO card (see the black and white digi stamp below).


The zip file contains the PNG and JPG images, but as an added bonus for those of you with electronic cutters, it contains a cut line as well. Now in this particular case...I just put the image 4 times on one sheet of cardstock (it's a 4 1/4 " by 5 1/2 " digi, or a quarter fold) and then ran through my DreamKutz to separate the images. So easy!

Northward bound!

Squamish inhabitants of the park were the first people encountered by Captain George Vancouver when he explored the area in 1792. Stanley Park is a 404.9 hectare (1,000 acre) urban park bordering downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is the largest city-owned park in Canada and the third largest in North America. On 27 September 1888 the park was officially opened, where it was named after Lord Stanley, Governor General of Canada at the time. Stanley Park contains numerous natural and man-made attractions that lure visitors to the park. Unlike other large urban parks, Stanley Park is not the product of a landscape architect, but has evolved into its present, mixed-use configuration. The death of the distinctive fir tree atop Siwash Rock has also been memorialized with a replacement. The original died in the dry summer of 1965, and through the persistent efforts of park staff, a replacement finally took root in 1968.

It seems strange I know, but Monday this week signals the end to a very busy week! So whew, I'm glad it's Monday! LOL!

Isn't this a most unusual flower? And yet it's a daisy, an African Daisy or Osteospermum "pink whirls".

Looking for clues to my secret? Well I can tell you it's coming up next weekend...when exactly you'll have to check back for later...

Rhododendron - beauty or the beast?

Just a close-up I found of a rhododendron. They blooms are *just* beginning to open at our house...the warm weather has certainly helped in that regard. I was quite surprised to find out that they contain a toxin and can be pretty dangerous. Check out the Bingo thread for more details...

What a beautiful (and strange flower!)

The Parrot flower is a beautiful (and much debated) impatien. It is illegal to sell, collect, or possess in Thailand and very difficult to cultivate. You can see more HERE:

Oh what a beauty!

Orchids are gorgeous, I'll admit I've never tried to grow one...but I never knew there were so many different species (about 22,000!). Here's some more info from Wikipedia...

Orchidaceae are cosmopolitan, occurring in almost every habitat apart from deserts and glaciers. The great majority are to be found in the tropics, mostly Asia, South America and Central America. They are found above the Arctic Circle, in southern Patagonia and even on Macquarie Island, close to Antarctica.

So is this the word you needed in BINGO?

More flowers...

Just another pretty picture of flowers today...I'm pretty busy trying to clean up my computer and get things organized. I really need to back everything up. I would hate to think about losing what I have saved right now!

Spring has sprung!

We are finally starting to get some nice weather this week...hopefully this time it will last. One of the first flowers coming up in our beds is...



We got out the bikes (and trailer for the kiddos) yesterday. It was great! So many different plants starting to sprout. So get outside today and snap some pictures (of flowers), you never know when they might come in handy! *wink*

Wow, it's amazing the things you can learn about things trying to run BINGO...for example (from Wikipedia)...

"Many species are grown for their showy flowers or used as landscape shrubs. Hibiscus is also a primary ingredient in many herbal teas.

One species of Hibiscus, known as Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus), is extensively used in paper making. Another, roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) is used as a vegetable and to make herbal teas and jams (especially in the Caribbean). In Latin America, the drink is known as jamaica (drink) and is quite popular. It is made from calyces of the roselle plant. In Egypt and Sudan, roselle petals make a tea named after the plant, karkade.

Hibiscus species are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Chionodes hibiscella, Hypercompe hambletoni, the Nutmeg moth, and the Turnip Moth."
